WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY
We loved the wonderful garden, the nice scented flowers in vases around the house and the pool where we had a lot of fun. Thank you very much for the restaurant recommendations and your warm hospitality. We loved the 'cushion' area on the terrace - that was my place!
A lovely stay. We had a wonderful time doing absolutely nothing and feel extremely relaxed.
We went skinny dipping in the pool and that was the best bit. We had 5 barbecues. The swimming pool is amazing. It was very good.
A wonderful arrival to a lovely clean house, beautiful pool, wonderful books and heavenly garden!
We've had a glorious 2 weeks – super hot weather, stunning gardens and pool; delicious figs; plentiful herbs; and a very relaxed vibe (nothing to do with the herbs!) Our Mums had a great first week with us and absolutely admired the floral mix – the place couldn't be better set up for children. We hope we might come back one day.
We have had a fabulous week in your beautiful villa. The gardens are glorious and the villa perfectly tasteful ( and well kitted out). It was lovely to meet you all.
Great house and nicely decorated! We will recommend it!
This is a lovely place. We have had a relaxing, low-key stay. Played in the garden, chilled by the pool, got to know the shopkeepers in Arriate. Many thanks.
Thanks to Gabriella and Jon for being great hosts and for sharing this warm part of Andalucia with us: the children really enjoyed playing with Maia and Alfie and the villa was a perfect retreat at the end of a long day. We reccommend Jon's book "Dining Secrets of Andalucia" we visited some of the restaurants mentioned and can confirm they are great.
A very happy and comfortable week. We enjoyed the walks from the house which you described for us. We enjoyed Ronda, and Marbella (how are you with hairpin bends and massive drops?). And then Malaga city. Too wonderful for words. We found Arriate's tapas bar delightful, an exciting venue with delicious tapas and wines. Not at all expensive and very welcoming. Thank you.
We have had an amazing week and don´t want to return home. The house and gardens are really beautiful and the girls loved the cats. Far too much to do and not enough time – we will have to return!
Thank you so much for such a perfect place to stay and your boundless hospitality! The house is beautiful, wonderfully well-equipped and it was lovely and cosy in the evenings with the very easily lit fire. We had a really brilliant time in this ¨piece of paradise¨and we hope to come back.
Thank you so much for a wonderful week, it is hard to know where to start... the scent from the garden- lavender, rosemary, thyme, the fresh flowers all over the house, the grapes picked fresh off the vine, trees laden with quince and pomegranates. And as so many past guests have said, it´s the little touches that make you feel so at home - the fresh coffee, bread, milk, plates of cheese and quince jam, and chilled wine when you arrive. Sunhats, games, books, DVDs. Candles everywhere and huge bottles of shower gel. And the house itself is so beautifully designed and decorated... and the view from the pool!
I cannot think of a better house and location to revive the spirit and prepare for British winter. The memories of the scented garden at dusk will stay forever.
Wow, what a fantastic time we have had. From the moment we stepped through the door we were envelopped by peace, tranquillity and pure Andalucian charm. The views from the pool are breathtaking and we loved lying and chatting into the small hours on the Moorish beds. We will be back.
What a magical gem you have created here. We´ve had a fabulous week of sunshine, swimming and sampling the local delights of Andalucia. All manner of outdoor seating and bedding here is extremely comfortable and makes a great place to while away the days. Big thanks for a fabulous week at La Alcantarilla - from the wine and cheese on arrival to the last minute booking of Almocobar in Ronda for us - you guys really go the extra mile!
We´ve had such a lovely time here we are rather gutted to be leaving, already making plans to return. In seven days we accomplished nothing except sitting outside, listening to the birds, eating good food, drinking wine and laughing. This is a perfect place to retreat and get some sun.
We have had an amazing time! Our holiday couldn't have been any better. We arrived in the dark so when we woke up we were amazed by the tweeting birds, sun shining, beautiful plants everywhere and the fantastic pool! You have made it so special for us, we love all the added touches. We will be back!
We must praise how well equipped La Alcantarilla is. Everything one could need, is provided, and quite a bit more! Thank you.
We had an awesome stay. Nice warm showers and a really great kitchen too... breakfasts on the front patio with those amazing views. Arriate is a fabulous little town, and Ronda is not bad either!
Thanks for a fantastic stay.... and how nice to come in the winter when you can use the log-burning stove at nights to heat up the sitting room... very romantic! The kids loved the walk to Arriate and especially the place there that sells hot chocolate...
What a great location to explore the national parks of Alcornocales, Grazalema and the Sierra de las Nieves. And we've done that in shed-loads. Tapas is a must in Arriate´s Almacen, fab donuts at the bread shop and turron from SuperAni... Seen the Griffon vultures near Montecorto, fantastic flora and fauna. Had a great time.
Our third time in the Ronda area and definitely the best accomodation. We loved the local countryside, the beach near Marbella fits the bill perfectly for our four year old and the best meal this holiday was at Molino del Santo.
What a wonderful house, which has been transformed into the most enchanting retreat, but still not far from Ronda and its delicious food and wine. As the 'centre of the universe' it is a marvellous choice for visitors wanting to explore Andalucia.
We have had a wonderful week staying in la Alcantarilla... the house has been so comfortable, light and airy. Despite being a group of five, we have not felt cramped or cluttered. The colour schemes are simple and beautiful, adding to a feeling of space and openness.
